This medication is used to treat anemia in patients with a certain blood/bone marrow disorders (myelodysplastic syndrome-MDS, multiple myeloma). These patients do not have enough properly working red blood cells. They often require blood transfusions to reverse their anemia. Clotrimazole is used to treat skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, and other fungal skin infections (candidiasis). This medication is also used to treat a skin condition known as pityriasis (tinea versicolor), a fungal infection that causes a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs. Lie down or tilt your head back. Holding the bottle between your thumb and index finger, place the dropper tip as near as possible to your eyelid without touching it. Brace the remaining fingers of that hand against your cheek or nose. With the index finger of your other hand, pull the lower lid of the eye down to form a pocket. Drop the prescribed number of drops into the pocket made by the lower lid and the eye. Placing drops on the surface of the eyeball can cause stinging.
